Targeting & Effectiveness
Do you shoot everything you see?
No - I only target the species listed in the contract with the landholder or contract owner. Every animal is carefully identified first. Some landholders prefer to leave certain species alone, while others, such as rabbits or foxes, need to be controlled due to the damage they cause. Hares, for example, are technically feral but rarely cause the same level of damage, so they are usually left alone unless requested.
How effective is shooting?
Shooting is a highly effective tool for reducing numbers of many pest species when used correctly. It gives immediate results, can be very selective, and is humane when performed by trained operators. Its success depends on timing, accurate identification, appropriate equipment, and follow-up work to prevent reinvasion. For best long-term results, shooting is usually combined with other measures such as exclusion, habitat management, baiting, or ongoing monitoring.
Safety & Compliance
Is it safe to shoot on or near my property?
Yes - every property is unique, and I always inspect it in person to plan safe positions. I check boundaries, sightlines, neighbours, and sensitive areas, then select the safest locations and most appropriate humane tools. All work follows PestSmart guidelines, Codes of Practice, legislation, and workplace safety procedures.
Do you notify police before operations?
Yes - I notify local police before every cull and provide the reference number to the landholder or contract owner. I can also submit applications for council land or access where required.
Do you operate at night?
Yes - but night work is not always the most effective option. Night operations allow for discretion, which can be important for safety and minimal disturbance. Timing is determined by the species’ behaviour - for example, pigeons may feed on a property during the day but roost elsewhere at night. Each job is assessed individually to ensure control is safe and effective.
Can you assure my property won’t be damaged? I continuously test and maintain my equipment to ensure minimal projectile over‑travel. Where work is inside sheds or commercial buildings, I use low‑power airguns; outdoors I may use high velocity, highly frangible projectiles suited to the environment and target species. Every shot discharged is video recorded for safety auditing, species identification, compliance and ethical review which can be provided should it be needed.
Property & Animal Management
What happens to culled animals?
It depends on the property size, species, and numbers being removed. Some animals must remain on-site due to legal or permit requirements. On smaller urban properties, animals are usually removed to prevent mess or odours. Removed animals are composted at a licensed facility, and a disposal fee applies. The option for removal is entirely up to the landholder.
Do you only work on farms and rural properties?
No - I work in both rural and built-up areas. I provide discreet pest control in backyards, sheds, warehouses, and commercial or industrial sites. All operations are carried out under strict safety procedures, ensuring the work is quiet, controlled, and unobtrusive.
Credentials & Experience
Are you insured and licensed?
Yes - I am fully licensed, hold the required insurance, and have formal qualifications in humane pest management and the responsible use of firearms, along with a WHS Certificate IV. I have also held a Defence clearance where required, ensuring all work is carried out safely and professionally.
What experience do you have?
I bring decades of experience in pest management and contract shooting across both urban and rural environments. I’ve managed a wide range of species, from rabbits and foxes to birds and other feral animals, always prioritising safety, professionalism, and efficiency. My background in precision shooting, developed through professional work and competitive sport, supports accurate, efficient, and humane outcomes on every job.
Operations & Response
How quickly can you respond?
I aim to respond quickly. In most cases, I can carry out a property survey, arrange the contract, and begin work the next day, depending on availability and the scale of the job.
How do you operate once a contract is signed?
I attend your property only by invitation and will never turn up unannounced. Before each visit, you’ll receive a police reference number and an estimated time of arrival. If you need to cancel, I only require 1 - 2 hours’ notice, depending on travel distance. Work is carried out quietly, efficiently, and safely, and I maintain the highest level of professionalism at all times.
Client expectations
Shooting provides fast, targeted reduction of pest numbers, but results depend on the species, property size, and timing. Some pests may require follow-up visits to maintain control, and combining shooting with other measures often gives the best long-term outcome.
